When the Chancellor’s chief advisor goes out to the public and tells everybody that the Chancellor is failing, then it can mean only one thing: the Chancellor has stopped listening. Now the advisor (Hans-Joachim Schellnhuber) is teed off and has stooped to back-biting.

It appears the last time Hans left Merkel’s office, the door hit him in the rear. Or she’s just ignoring his climate drivel. Now he’s out in public calling her a failure. Could it be that physicist Merkel smells something fishy in Prof. Creepy-Climate Schellnhuber’s 2-degree fantasy? Hat-tip to Dr. Herrmann Ott here.

Just one week before the world climate summit in Qatar, the chief advisor for climate issues to the German government, Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, accuses politics for the failure.”
Spiegel continues:
The target of limiting warming to two degrees by the end of the century can only be achieved by a massive overhaul. […] ‘We’ve said on multiple occasions that we need nothing less than a new industrial revolution.’ […] Schellnhuber is demanding that Merkel to assemble a ‘coalition of the willing’. Unfortunately, the head of the government does not have climate protection as a ‘top priority’.”
Green Parliamentarian Herrmann Ott adds at his ultra-fundamentalist green site:
…in the German debate, even the climate advisor to the German government, Hans-Joachim Schellnhuber, accuses Chancellor Angela Merkel of failure in climate policy and demands climate be given ‘top priority’.”
Merkel needs to get with it, Schellnhuber’s saying. Obviously she hasn’t been listening to him much lately. Gee, I wonder why. After all, she’s only had the financial collapse of Europe to worry about. Like she couldn’t devote more time to a fantasy crisis?
At least he’s got an in-tray full of real data to burn to keep PIK heated for the winter. 🙂

The problem is that the plundering initiated by the Warmists continues unabated. 2013 will see domestic electricity rates 13% higher than 2012 in Germany.
I always wondered and could never quite understand why Merkel, an intelligent woman, a physicist, was in it at all. Politics, of course! I guess, she must have thought, there’d be genuine benefits in disengaging Germany from the dependence on imported oil, gas and coal… until it became increasingly obvious that this was not going to work, that the cost would be substantial and that German industry would be damaged in the process–all this while China continues to commission a new coal powered plant every fortnight, and while the US has converted its power plants to gas and is open for business.
Angela Merkel is a scientist and she hears and understands what scientists say, especially what ex-warmist/green scientist Prof Fritz Vahrenholt and Dr Sebastian Lüning had to say about the science: that the planet is not suffering any man-made warming and that its all due to the sun.
I stand to believe that Merkel, having seen what Europe has suffered due to this climate madness, increased energy costs that made manufacturing firms fly east and destroyed the EU’s economy, now has read Die Kalde Sonne and has instructed her gov to construct 23 x 2200MW coal-fired power stations that will provide cheapenergy and say bye bye climate change politics and IPCC and climatefests that go by the acronyms of COP-xx, currently COP18
I doubt that she’s using any scientific skills. She’d have *never* shut down nuclear power plants prematurely.
Political leaders must be pragmatic. Ideologies are for the blind pursuit of lesser people; those who are kept away from sharp implements and small objects they could swallow.
Merkel balances economic interests against the apocalypptic currents of German society.
After Fukushima the Greens reached an approval rating of 35%.
Half of the German population is hell bent on self destruction in the superstitious belief that this will purify them come environmental judgment day. A neo-pagan irrational belief system of which Schellnhuber and Ott are the high priests.
Maybe she only has Schellnhuber as “advisor” following the old adage of “keep your friends close but your enemies closer” – Schellnhuber is not a direct enemy but part of the enemy’s political religion so she can neutralize that religion partially by showing off her warmist friends.
