Alberta Canada Sees Avalanche Of New Record Lows … “Glacial Temperatures” … Edmonton Sees -39°C!

Cold is gripping globally, and not only in the US or Antarctica.

Hat-tip: Jurian Sterk at Facebook.

The French language www.hebdometeo.com here reports that in Alberta: “Temperatures Saturday in the Canadian prairies were glacial and that many cold records fell.”

The report writes that Edmonton bottomed out at -39°C thus smashing the old record of -37°C set in 2009, also a time of supposedly intense global warming.

No wonder the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) feels so desperate to roll out once again its bogus model claims that all the cold is due to Arctic warming!

At Brooks, Alberta the mercury fell to -42.2 °C. The old record was -38.3°C set in 1977. With the wind chill factored in, the temperature felt like -52°C, the hebdometeo site writes.

Our son drives the bus for the Portland Winterhawks Hockey team. For the last week they have been in Alberta at Red Deer, Calgary, and Edmonton. He hasn’t turned off the engine in a week. Big problem? Ice on the INSIDE of the windshield.

Ed continuous running may also be needed to stop the fuel from freezing.

Yes, with a recirculator in the fuel system.

I live 100 km west of Red Deer (central Alberta) where we set a new record a couple nights ago of -38.2 C. Not only is it cold, but the snow is constantly piling up. I had to force my snow blower thru snow that was deeper than the blower housing (ca. 4 feet). And….scariest of all… it’s not even winter yet!

    Hi Pierre,

Don´t they have diesel suitable for arctic conditions in Canada? In northern Finland you can buy arctic diesel that works in temperatures below -40 C.

I’m sure they do. Edmonton regularly gets pretty cold. But he filled up before he left Oregon, so there is some residual fair weather fuel in there.

    -40C= -40F

We have been following an internet discussion with people that own horses and bird dogs in Oregon, Wash., and Alberta. Interestingly, Wash. folk (incl. us) are the warmest but still very cold. Oregon is colder. The man from Alberta (north and east of Calgary) sent info and a few pictures. Then called us names and told us to quit whining.

    Regarding Russia:
That’s a whole bunch of folks they are now feeding and housing (+ any other expenses). Turn them loose, get good PR, and save money. Vladimir did not get to be “Good Tsar Putin” because he’s stupid.

    O/T
EU Kommissars wage a war on cinnamon. THIS DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A JOKE.
When reading this you feel like, is this an Austrian Onion?

But EU commission lickspittles Spiegel Online confirm it and deliver dutifully the exact ponderings of the Kommissars:

Exact regulations also prohibit the addition of chilli peppers.

So says Regulation (EC) No 1334/2008 Scroll down to ANNEX III under “Substances which shall not be added as such to food”.

See “capsaicin”? It’s what makes pepper “hot”.
