IPCC Scientist Mojib Latif On Claim Warm Arctic Causing Severe Cold Winters: “Old Story”…”I’m Really Skeptical”

From Sebastian Lüning and Fritz Vahrenholt at Die kalte Sonne here:
========================

The climate catastrophe is hitting without mercy. Bild reported on 28 October 2014:

New climate study causes fear and trembling: How bitter-cold will winter be?
The polar ice is melting. And so the jet stream is changing. Result: Lots of bitter cold winters – also in Germany. Excuse me? This US climate study has just been published by the magazine ‘Nature Geoscience’ and it is causing fear and trembling. But what is really behind this? BILD asked climate pope Prof. Dr. Mojib Latif: ‘That’s indeed just an old story. It could be so. But not necessarily. The jet stream can change because of natural reasons. I’m really skeptical.'”

Crazy world: Climate warming is cooling the climate in Germany. And [warmist] Mojib Latif is suddenly a skeptic. So what’s next? Is climate change going to make it dark in the daytime and light at night? Will [the island] of Norderney soon be reachable by foot because of sea level rise? Will the glaciers in the Alps cover Munich because the ice is melting faster and faster? So many questions.

    Hah!

Climate change has already made day dark and night, bright: just like other features of CAGW, we haven’t noticed the change because the scientists haven’t told us about it yet.

Recently I did notice about a one hour change, lighter when I woke up in the morning and darker at dinnertime. Perhaps it is volcanic aerosols on a 12 hour cycle tied to the high frequency AMO.

Guy Stewart Callendar who ‘founded’ the CO2 scare with his original paper in 1938 was reported to have changed his mind about its warming effect after the very cold 1962/3 winter.
Perhaps Mojib Latif has looked out the window recently, and is wondering whether the “Carbon will eat my planet” approach will ensure financial security in the near future. (His financial security).

    “The polar ice is melting”
The Arctic sea ice is melting from approx beginning mars to september, and refreezing the rest of the year.
Why are we always and only hearing about the melting.?
    See the cyclus here:

Because melting is climate. Freezing is just weather.

Vasectomy-Holthaus says Lake Effect snow at Buffalo was caused by Global Warming.

At this point we’re just collecting it. No reason to talk to them anymore.

Buffalo, that’s a helluva lot of global warming.

From what I can glean from reports – there’s more to come, one really rather hopes [very hard] that it [more snow] doesn’t arrive – for all the sakes of the people of north NY state.

The NH, is undergoing and suffering a colder period, the thing is – how cold is it going to be?

Hi from Oz. off topic, but as reported in the MSM here in australia, is chancellor Merkel really orchestrating a battle between the German energy and environment ministers to destabilise the SPD, or is Climate common-sense breaking out without her help?

    1. DirkH

Our SPD always has infighting between idealist far out lunatics and some rational guys, which are invariably members of the “Seeheimer Kreis” – a subgroup of the SPD that tries to find out how to actually run a country.

You don’t have to prod the SPD into infighting. It’s their schtick.

In the late 1950s (maybe 1959) several of us from about 80 miles south drove to Erie, PA – on the south shore of Lake Erie. There are a couple of benches of old shorelines (from glacial lakes) so going north one goes “down” to the city, and going south one goes up. The elevation change is not much, maybe 100 meters or about 300 feet.
Soon after leaving the city – going up – we encountered snow. There was snow nearly up to the axles of the car. There was snow for about 15 miles. Then there was none.
The driver, older than the rest of us, was not impressed. Lake effect snow was old news to her. I wonder if the polar ice was melting then, or earlier when she was young.

The only way a warming Earth can cause cooling is by redirecting the flow of air off the Arctic. Example, a warm pool in the north Pacific causes a trough of cold air off the Arctic to flow down the land mass of North America.

But in reality, cold can not cause warmth. It is simple, for cold is the natural state. For there to be heat, it must be caused by something, such as the Sun, or heat from Earth’s core, burning fossil fuels etc. Cold is simply the absence of heat. Remove the heat source and it cools. Air conditioners do not make cold air, but they do remove heat. Once the heat is removed, cold is the natural by product. This cold results in the absence of heat, and not because of it.

@ “Remove the heat source and it cools”.
      More clear:
Remove the water and it is cold, very cold. At night the moon is about minus 150°C warm!.
