NoTricksZone Moves To A New WordPress Theme

No, you have not landed on the wrong site.

NoTricksZone has simply switched to a new WordPress theme. The old hybrid theme was getting too many problems with each WordPress version update and so it was high time to change.

I know the new look will take some getting used to, but as far as function is concerned it should be trouble-free for a good while.

A couple of weeks ago the site with the old theme was inaccessible for some 32 hours. Then about 10 days ago readers were able to write comments, but there was no longer a “Submit comment” button.  These things of course can be fixed, but I just don’t know enough about programming the script, so I said the hell with it.

There will be some slight appearance changes in the future, but what you see is pretty much what you will get.

The good thing is that readers are now able to submit comments once again, and this is what really give the blog life.

Looking forward to hearing from the readers once again!

    Hi Pierre, the new layout seems to work fine. Did you sweat blood to get it right? Much appreciated.

    I like it.

    Welcome back:)

    Looks fine on my end.

    Background reminds me that NASA has posted much info on the Hubble telescope because this is its 25th anniversary. Various places have articles. Now at its peak years, Hubble will not last. A new and different instrument will be launched – the James Webb Space Telescope.

    Add my vote for the new website format. It reads well. And I still like the content!

  6. Pops

    It looks good to me.

    Sit back. Relax.

    Most important: It works.

    It needs some tuning. One step at a time.

    I kinda figured that the theme didn’t survive the “upgrade”. Sounds like you found the best solution.

    Excuse me while I try out some of the HTML commands described below the comment text area.

    void hello() {
    printf("Hello, world\n");
    }

    What does the cite option do to blockquote?

    Abbr is short for abbreviation

    Acronym is like abbreviation. On WordPress, I bet neither works sensibly.

  10. Ric Werme

    Huh, what happened to my abbr and acronym comment?

    Code stripped leading spaces! Let’s see if “pre” does better even though it’s not listed.

    void hello() {
    printf(“Hello, world\n”);
    }

    Pierre, Any idea why that got moderated ?

    Looks good Pierre. A clean, uncluttered with much better readability.

    Looks very nice, Pierre! Concrats!

    I’d like to subscribe via (“normal”?) RSS but do not manage to do
    so correctly. Could you, or someone else, please help me out?
    Thanks in advance.

    Cool – looks clean, loads smartly. My aging eyesight approves of the larger font size!

    Be warned though – recent WordPress changes seem to have introduced a doorway for XSS attacks, according to The Register today. Particularly worrying is that it seems to affect *default* WP plugins (“… the Twenty Fifteen plugin installed on all WordPress sites is being actively attacked”), so hold off relaxing after the panic until you’ve checked.

      OOPS!

      The fix looks straight-forward. Remove example.html.

        Ah, but if Pierre didn’t know that, hadn’t checked the Register, and that file was in there somewhere, looking all innocent … Just spreading awareness. Better safe than sorry, and all that.

      Steve, there’s always ctrl + in your browser to zoom.

    It’s a pity that the date is now at the bottom instead of at the top of each item.

    Hi Pierre,
    Great blog, glad you got it working, but it’s a bit BIG. Having to hold my iPad down around my knees here.
    Sorry for negative vibes etc 🙂
