What A Stunning Comeback!

The Atlanta Falcons and Roger Goodell have got to be feeling like Hillary Clinton right now.

I have to admit I went to bed after it was 21 – 0 (2 a.m. Central European Time) thinking it was over — and not caring at all for the likely idiotic halftime show.
Much to my delight, this morning felt a lot like November 9 last year.

And Drudge this morning (Germany) has number of good headlines:

Kenneth Richard will be posting soon later. Have a good one today, fellow patriots!

I do not, at my age and focus in life, follow football (American) any more. I went through all that back in the 1980s and 90s, with the Denver Broncos, first with the “Orange Crush” of the Craig Morton (quarterback) era, then through the career of John Elway. After Denver’s two Super Bowl victories at the end of Elway’s career (I had already moved on from such things several years earlier, but heard about those victories), I came away with the following generalization, for what it’s worth:

All you really need is a great quarterback and one unequaled running back (on top of a solid defensive unit), and you’ve got a winning team. For Denver, it was Elway and Lawrence Taylor. I don’t know who the running back is for the Patriots (I happened to see a few-minutes-long highlight film of them early yesterday, and would have remembered the guy’s name–yes, they have that necessary outstanding running back–if I were really into it all; sorry, but I’m not…I remember Tom Brady’s name, because of the hoopla over deflated footballs, and his comeback throughout the season). Even I, with no real interest in who won or lost, thought after seeing those few Patriot highlights that they looked like the likely winners of the Superbowl; but it’s a game of ups and downs for even the best, as I see by your post the Superbowl was yesterday.

We return you now to our regularly scheduled program.

Sports shouldn’t be politicized, but the left politicizes (and ruins) everything it touches – and this is the case when the left politicizes sports (going back at least as far as the 1936 Olympics). The left sure politicized football this year, and as in 1936 the karmic payback was a thing of beauty:

“Trump won the election and now his favorite team has won the Super Bowl. Let it sink America.”

All of this with Tom Brady cast as the new Jesse Owens.

Brexit. Trump. Patriots. It’s all good! 🙂
