Candidate Lenar Whitney On AGW: “Any 10-Year Old Can Invalidate Their Thesis…Obama Knows It’s Getting Colder”

Whitney_Lenar_websiteBreitbart brings us a video produced by Congressional candidate Lenar Whitney who hits out powerfully at the global warming “hoax”. Hat-tip: Climate Realists.

Whitney reminds her listeners that since Al Gore’s “propaganda film” An Inconvenient Truth, things have not turned out as he predicted. She states that “quite inconveniently for Al Gore and the rest of the politicians who to advance this delusion”… “The earth has done nothing but get colder each year since the film’s release.” … “President Obama knows it’s getting colder. He was foolish enough to blame our recent, pathetic economic growth on record freezing weather.”

She then correctly points out that Arctic sea ice has been on the rebound and that Antarctica is as cold as ever. Also Whitney says, “Experts agree that storms have decreased.”

Citing the leaked Climategate e-mails, she accuses scientists of having “falsified data”. She correctly credits oil and free markets for leading to today’s unprecedented prosperity. Wow, I’m in love with her already!

Wow, I’m in love with her already!

Yeh, and she’s pretty and intelligent. What a woman!

The part about Russia and the Middle East made me cringe hard. If they want to mess with the U.S., they only need to dump the dollar.

[She correctly credits oil and free markets for leading to today’s unprecedented prosperity.]

Our “unprecedented prosperity” is running on fumes. Sure, oil has facilitated the U.S. progress in terms of energy production, materials and transportation, but at the expense of many lives, diminished quality of life (in terms of polluted lands and water–plus chronic illnesses) and trillions of dollars in blood and treasure. However, as good as that was, it is no longer sustainable. The cost of doing business with oil is outpacing its benefit.
And what “free markets?” We had unions, the GI Bill, and other public institutions that created a middle class (a fluke of economic strata that does not exist through unregulated capitalism). We also had Glass-Steagall and strong FCC rules that kept the profit motive away from the public good. The middle class was key to our prosperity, but that is going away. And guess what, so is our unprecedented prosperity. Just in case you hadn’t noticed.

Maybe she was in high school at the time, but that idiotic canard has been debunked, repeatedly, years ago.

[She then correctly points out that Arctic sea ice has been on the rebound and that Antarctica is as cold as ever. Also Whitney says, “Experts agree that storms have decreased.”]

How is that correct? Do you have your own private definition for “rebound” that we should know about? And what “experts” is she talking about that are agreeing that storms have decreased? Mr. Gosselin, you’re behaving as if you think nobody’s reading your blog.

[“President Obama knows it’s getting colder. He was foolish enough to blame our recent, pathetic economic growth on record freezing weather.”]

So she’s conflating two winter polar vortexes that affected the contiguous U.S. midwest and east coast with long-term global trends. But Obama knows it’s getting colder. I see.

“quite inconveniently for Al Gore and the rest of the politicians who to advance this delusion”… “The earth has done nothing but get colder each year since the film’s release.”

Really, Ms. Whitney? I think the planet begs to differ. Just a shot in the dark: Republican?

Jim Spriggs, we don’t need any expert to tell us that hurricanes have been almost absent in the past 8 years. That is plain for all to see. The Antarctic ice has grown to unprecedented levels (in our relatively short record going back to 1979) but i agree that her claim of an Arctic Ice rebound is quite premature as we are only 2 years from the lowest on record (again, going back to 1979). That was the one thing she said that made me cringe. Regardless, overall our ice situation is quite stable as 90% of all ice resides in Antarctica. This year will be interesting for the Arctic. If the predictions are true, we are supposed to end with even more than last year and last year, albeit only one year, was indeed a fairly impressive rebound for one year. If we pass last year’s minimum this year, we will have equivalent ice to circa 2005 and that would be something impressive for a 2 year rebound.
