Four reconstructions from the central and western High Arctic reveal July temperatures were about 1-2°C warmer than today during most of the 1st millennium and Medieval period (Tamo and Gajewski, 2019).
A few years ago, a chironomid reconstruction of Boothia Peninsula in the Canadian Arctic (Fortin and Gajewski, 2016) revealed not only were today’s temperatures the coldest of the last 7000 years, but the last 150 years “do not indicate a warming during this time.”

The Canadian Arctic’s Baffin Island had 5°C warmer summer temperatures between 10,000 and 8000 years ago (Ilyashuk et al., 2011). Somehow the polar bears managed to survive this sea-ice-free period.

Earlier this year, another Canadian Arctic reconstruction (Bajolle et al., 2019) was published indicating temperatures were about 2-4.5°C warmer than today throughout the last 8500 years. Only 3 records mark temperatures colder than they are now.

Another new reconstruction of Arctic Canada temperatures cites 4 records indicating the Medieval Climate Anomoly (MCA) was about 1-2°C warmer than today (Tamo and Gajewski, 2019).

The evidence now shows that global warming will not be a problem for the world as this rise and fall of temperature is natural and has happened many times. The real problem is human activity and the high number of people that are growing so fast. People are building homes in flood plain areas and low coastal areas. Pollution from fossil fuels is causing a real health risk. We need a clean world without plastic waste in our seas and land. We need clean fresh air to breathe. We need clean drinking water and seas without chemicals in them. Nuclear power has 2 big problems, 1, the massive cost of construction, 2, the waste products that are radioactive and will be around for many thousands of years. COP25 was attended by many people and solved nothing? Hopefully, next year when CO26 is in Scotland there may be some progress made, it has to do something to change. Capitalism rules the world and our Democracy is unable to create change without taking control.

1. The population is not growing too fast. There is plenty of land and resources. The problem is that government policy across so many nations are following the UN plan (aka 2030 Agenda) which requires people to be removed from the land and crowded into cities. Distribution of food, water, sanitation, etc., is then a big problem.
2. “Pollution from fossil fuels is causing a real health risk.” Only where such technology is poorly implemented. Well managed fossil fuel use happens the world over with little or no health risk problems to man or beast. Green group like to overstate this as it plays into their lefty anti-industry stance.
The bottom line — People need energy, nations need energy. Fossil fuels are the only way to get large concentrated amount of energy can be made available reliably. It is the implementation that requires adjusting, not harebrained schemes with name like ‘sustainable’ in their names. There is no sustainable anything!
3. Nuclear power has 2 big problems, regulation and more regulation. The nuclear industry is one of the safest industries in the world — mostly because of people unfounded fear ensuring that it is over-regulated and therefore extremely costly to construct and maintain. Current nuclear power generates long lasting waste because their designs were to provide nuclear fuel for bomb making. Remove that requirement and the amount of long lasting spent fuel drops dramatically.
4. COP25 was attended by many people and solved nothing? It is NOT designed to solve anything it is designed to make westerner feel guilty and so pay, and pay dearly for the UN’s communist idea of wealth redistribution (and pocketing a large chunk for themselves).
Hopefully, next year when CO26 arrives the world would have woken-up and realized it is a massive and expensive scam.
5. Capitalism requires no control, to think it does means you do not understand capitalism!
The essence of capitalism is that a producer sells products at what the buyers in the market will pay, the buyers in the market can buy from any product supplier and pay (OR NOT) what they can afford. No control is necessary!
Plenty of biomatter is being found in places where it should not be. Rootstocks from trees that cannot grow in Greenland today, traces of wine cultivation in New Foundland and Scotland whee no wine grows today. The list is long. All proof that less than 1000 years ago tings were warmer than they are today. All without CO2 from human industrial activity. And so it happened in numerous warm times before that. Only the current warm time (a comparatively cold one by the way) is being ascribed to CO2. What has happened to the causes of all those other warm times? Why do we cling to something that has manifestly never been the reason? Any alarmist having a stab at this? But please, try to use reason, not dogma. I won’t respond to dogma.
The stock answer is that all other warm periods were caused by other factors. This one’s caused by CO2.
Please explain how today’s carbon dioxide is different from previous carbon dioxide, in a manner that allows it to cause warming, when it didn’t previously, without violating all known laws of physics, chemistry, and thermodynamics. Just because you need a scapegoat, in order to push a political or socio-economical agenda, isn’t an acceptable reason.
