Widespread frost to grip Europe
The past winter has been an unusually mild one for most of Europe, which has led many people to think spring was here to stay.
But the weather pattern has since switched. Instead of westerly winds bringing mild temperatures and rains across Europe, as they did all winter long, we are now beginning to see the “Beast from the East” pattern that is now pumping frigid air from Russia.
Wetteronline.de here shows the forecast ground surface temperatures dropping to -12°C in some south German areas by Wednesday next week:
Now all the talk has since gone from “climate warming” to “just weather”.
Northern Italy air quality WORSENS after people stop driving
On another note, one would think that with the Corona curfews in northern Italy reducing traffic to almost zero, we’d see improved air quality. But in fact the opposite has occurred.
“More people at home means more frequent wood/pellet heating, which in this country is encouraged by the most stupid energy and environmental policies,” says Swiss meteorologist Jörg Kachelmann, citing the Italian online Gazzetta here.

Shame. Warmer weather would suppress this current virus scare…
I guess global warming is really a good thing after all; along with private transport to allow self-isolation, disposable plastic bags to prevent cross-contamination, controlled borders to prevent virus importation/exportation, and fossils fuels to power hospitals.
Electric heat reduces the risk of fire. The rates can be lowered to have electric heat affordable.
Wood burning stoves are a fire hazard, ashes have to be cooled.
The weather was good throughout much of February, ten days ago, the temperature outside was 52 degrees F, now it is 14 degrees F. A project came to a complete standstill.
Cooled down about 30 degrees for daytime high temps. Four inches of new snow is on the ground, everything is froze.
First four days of Spring are colder than normal.
Sure am glad I ordered seed for planting before the crazy reaction to the virus that is wreaking havoc throughout the world.
Misery and dreaded drudgery with covid, everybody is social distancing.
Not really that much misery and dreaded drudgery, just kidding, but the hyperbole of it all is leading to an insane scene.
