COVID-19 has not only been a nightmare for the public worldwide, but especially for “climate crisis” alarmists who have seen their agenda disappear from the media radar. And it’s going to stay off the radar for quite some time. People can take only so much panic and restriction.
Once the COVID-19 crisis subsides, and it will in a few months, the global citizenry will be in absolutely no mood to keep on panicking. They’ll want to go back to the prosperity they previously enjoyed.
“Enough sacrifice and restrictions,” they’ll be saying.
Far lower urgency
There are several reasons the climate crisis isn’t going to come back soon.
First off, it’s human nature to address only dangers that are truly present. Though many believe there’s a climate crisis, it’s one that is perceived to be years, even decades, off into the future. So there’s no sense of real urgency like the immediate sort we’ve been seeing with COVID-19. So what if sea level rises 2 feet by 2100. I can move in 30 years – long before it ever gets here!
People will be sick and tired of panic
Secondly, by the time COVID-19 passes, citizens will be sick and tired of panicking, and they aren’t going to be in the mood for a continued high level panic over something far, far less urgent. They’ll have had enough of lock downs and sacrificing and aren’t going to be very open to sacrificing for the weather.
Too many people aren’t buying the flaky climate crisis “science”
A third reason is that the climate crisis is still highly uncertain and increasingly hotly disputed. Much of the science behind it is flimsy. While it has been crystal clear that COVID-19 is urgent, especially for the elderly, the climate crisis is fraught with huge uncertainties and flaky science. Too many people just aren’t buying it. They’re going to take the let’s-wait-and-see attitude before flying off the handle again.
The media aren’t going to keep up the high panic
Fourthly, the media can’t devote the same attention to the “climate crisis” that they did to COVID-19 simply because people would just tune them out, and rightly so. Enough is enough. People will want to get back to normalcy. Who in their right mind would want to spend the rest of his life in a state of panic like the alarmists propose?
Why would people — already fatigued by the COVID-19 panic — worry about a climate doomsday when summer is finally there?
And despite all the hype surrounding Greta and Fridays for Future, a recent study by the organization Media Matters, revealed that there was only 238 minutes of climate crisis coverage by major US networks in 2019!
So after COVID-19 subsides, the networks aren’t going to keep crying doomsday. They know they’ll be tuned out totally if they do.

Moreover the climate warnings have been going on more than 30 years now and people had been tuning them out already, and for good reason. Life on the planet by most measures is far better today. All the dire predictions made in the 1990s and 2000s never came to pass.
Political suicide
Finally politicians will be very wary about calling for more pain to combat a distant, dubious threat. Doing so after going through the pain of COVID-19 would be tantamount to political suicide.
Dictatorship as the last hope for the climate crisis?
“As heretical as it may sound, there are valid questions to be raised about whether a democratic system with regular elections is suited to dealing with an issue that requires short-term sacrifice for long-term benefits,” wrote Joe Wiggins, a researcher in fund management.

Some sources I have seen have suggested that the virus came along just in time to save the faltering climate hysteria. We have had serious flu-type viruses before this one. They will happen again. We cannot allow every spike in illness to provoke national lock-downs like this one. That is one pretty sure way for the police state to creep in upon us. Eventually, the crises will not go away, and we will be locked down “for our own good” permanently.
Climate does not seem to be working. Thank goodness, the totalitarians must say, for the virus.

Am I the only one here in serious doubt about the magnitude of the alleged threat of COVID-19? Sure it is a virus that can harm you. This harm can be serious and even lethal. So that is truly bad. But is it much worse than Influenza? The numbers are unclear.

I just took it for granted that this would be just one among many for such a well-informed group.
The global elite and the banksters have run out of things to use to prop up their agenda. The Chinese played a valuable part in their efforts to unseat the populist leaders elected to western governments over the last 4 years. Notice there are NO major protests from ‘The People’ anywhere around the globe because they fear a virus that was most likely manufactured in a lab. The draconian isolation rules being enforced globally are a test run for one world government and it is a test that will prove a failure. Remember the words of Mark Twain, ‘It is easier to fool people than to convince them that they are being fooled.’

Extremely interesting & surprising.
To my way of thinking, if by washing hands, social distancing, self quarantining you do not get the flu until the season is over, and if a vaccine is available before next season starts, you win. Not only that, you did not spread disease so you helped others avoid the flu until the season is over, so they win, too.
I am a scientist, a weather forecaster for 40 years and now retired. I know a lot about atmospheric processes. Global warming is real and accelerating. People should study the process, which is really quite simple, before denying it.
You may want to show us the science that shows that CO2 is to blame here. (hint – there is none) and having looked at the satellite data from University of Alabama for some years now I cannot see that it is accelerating as you claim. I would trust this in front of the distorted graphs not based on actual temperatures.
I have spent thousands of hours since the late 1970s studying all the material that I can, and I am more certain than ever that CO2 has very little to do with any perceived warming.
I think that another factor which will stop attention on the fake climate crisis is that with a solar minimum now starting temperatures will be falling. Sure NASA and co will be frantically homogenising and adjusting but at some point it will be completely obvious to everybody that temperatures are going down, but more importantly, that so many agencies were happy to throw science and good process aside in an unprecedented effort to falsely show that CO2 is to blame for a crisis which was completely fake.
This latter will actually badly harm science for decades as people will be rightly very suspicious of all those “scientists” who never followed the scientific method and are unworthy to be named as such.

Having read several reports and independent studies on this matter, and having followed all of this for some years, I can say with confidence that the study of our climate and our interaction with it is anything but simple. Plenty of experts in this field would disagree with your comment. There is no denial going on here. Try to understand what realists are saying, rather than being provocative, making simple minded statements and trying to psychologise us.
Can you explain why NONE of the predictions scientists have made since 1970 have come true? For example: 1971 Washington Post-a new ice age by 2020; 1977 President Carter-world will run out of oil by 2010; 1988 Canberra Times-Maldives under water by 2018; 2004 Guardian-Britain will have Siberian winter by 2019; 2005 Guardian-Britain will be in permanent drought by 2011 (we have just had severe floods); 2008 NASA-Manhattan will be under water by 2018; 2007 BBC-Arctic will be ice-free by 2013; 2009 National Geographic-new ice age by 2020. How many more do you want?
If you look at esrl.noaa.gov the rate of increase of global CO2 level is unchanged, despite human emissions falling due to corona. The AGW myth is finished.

Yesterday it snowed three inches and the temp made it all the way to 20 degrees F. It is 12 degrees outside now. The high temp for the day will be 28 degrees F, the low tonight will be 12 F.

My (now) wife, an Australian, and I went for a walk on Northumberland (most Northern English county) hills on a clear-sky mid-May day. Later we got trapped in a blizzard, heavy snow and zero visibility. Such is English weather. Helen exclaimed: “We’ll never spend another winter in this country!” Years later, living on a bush block in sunny Queensland, Australia with two children, she said that she’d meant we’d spend January-February in Spain or Portugal. A bit late, I thought!

For almost 20 years I’ve argued that the future is uncertain, it will always surprise us, that rather than fret about possibly (but not certainly) detrimental global warming in the distant future, we should increase our capacity to deal well with whatever unknown future befalls. I think that the 2008 Global Financial Crisis, the corona-virus and perhaps the rise of China, which drove Western nations out of drug-production by flooding the market with drugs priced far below their production cost, leaving a malignant country with a world monopoly in some cases, bears me out. Perhaps the virus will have the benefit of a reassessment of alleged, distant, issues with warming and the withdrawal of nonsensical emissions reduction policies as the economy is rebuilt.

Saul Alinsky, in his book Rules for Radicals from 1971, gave the formula for how to pressure society into creating the kind of changes that you want to implement in an un-democratic manner. According to Alinsky, fictatious crises are the key to successful social domination, and he summed up the method in six points:
1: Use a tragedy as a crisis, or create a crisis where none exists.
2: Paint the crisis with as much emotion as possible, and throw logical analysis out the window.
3: Propose the one and only solution to the problem, which just happens to coincide with what you’ve wanted to implement for many years.
4: Paint anyone who opposes your one and only solution as evil, uncaring, not smart enough to understand the nuanced brilliance of your solution, or in the pockets of …. you pick the evil entity.
5: Force the solution on the people by any means, whether legislatively, by executive order, or through the legal system.
6: When the unintended consequences of your solution rear their ugly head, use them as a reason for more brilliant solutions to the made up crises.
