In Geological Terms, Today’s Atmospheric CO2 Concentrations Are Still Uncomfortably Low

Disaster was narrowly averted

Under 180 ppm atmospheric CO2 concentration, life on earth begins to die.

The earth came very close to that point not long ago during the Ice Ages (20,000 years ago). Then the planet warmed naturally, and an increase in atmospheric CO2 to over 200 ppm followed (new study here).

The earth saw CO2 levels of close to 8000 ppm in the past, i.e. about 20 times more than today. The following chart shows the earth’s atmospheric CO2 concentrations for the past 600 million years.

  1. Today’s Atmospheric CO2 Concentrations Are Still Uncomfortably Low – Truth is difficult but essential…
  2. John F Hultquist

At the 280 ppm concentration a rapidly growing vegetation cover (think a field of corn or vineyard) can deplete the CO2 in the air, unless wind is sufficient to carry in a new supply.
Somewhere**, it has been reported that 150 ppm is the critical concentration. That’s the red line in the chart.

“The Permian extinction was characterized by the elimination of over 95 percent of marine and 70 percent of terrestrial species.”

Perhaps it was a lack of CO2

“Today, thanks in large part to mankind, concentrations have risen to over 400 ppm,”
Read “Climate Miracle”and recognize this quote as error. Nature controls CO2. Mans additions to atmospheric content is about 8%. We haven’t ruined the planet with our emissions and we haven’t saved it. Moreover we cannot fix the climate crisis with money or by changing our emissions because there is no climate crisis.

Yes. It’s a far more precarious situation we’re in than even some skeptics are willing to admit.

When all the Davos green fluffy talk of digital currencies is stripped away, that CO2 curve in the Lead, which they are well informed about, shows the Great Reset indeed at 150ppm CO2.

See especially there a quote by Sir Alexander King, of the club of Rome :
“The real enemy then, is humanity itself.”

Hit that 150ppm CO2 level and indeed the dream of Dr. John Schellnhuber, CBE, will become reality – 1 billion people are to cherish that Reset.

Thank you for the auspicious writeup.
