$Trillions For Nothing…Damning Report: Green Energies Grow Only “Paltry Two Percent In Entire Decade”!

Global transition to green energies stagnates

By
(Translated/edited by P. Gosselin)

This is reported by various media. Put simply, global energy demand is rising faster than the expansion of renewable energies, or at least so fast that the increases are only marginally reflected in the overall balance. There is, for example, the German taz (emphasis added):

A paltry two percentage points increase in an entire decade: In 2020, only 12.6 percent of global energy demand was met by renewable energies. In 2009, the figure was 10.6 percent. This is the conclusion drawn by the think tank REN21 in a report presented by energy experts on Wednesday.

According to the report, progress is being made in the expansion of power plants that produce renewable electricity, i.e. solar plants, wind turbines, hydroelectric power plants – but fossil capacities are not being reduced. Instead, energy demand continues to grow, eating up the renewables successes.

Otherwise, these would be remarkable. Just last year, there was another record in the addition of renewable power plants: a capacity of 314 gigawatts was connected to the grid. But because fossil fuels still account for around 80 percent of total energy consumption, a real transition to green energies is not taking place, warns REN21. This also jeopardizes the climate targets.

The same report was featured also in Welt. This article is behind a paywall.

The fact that the share of renewable energy is not growing is bad enough from a climate protection perspective. It is also sobering that the 12.6 percent share of eco-energy is largely attributable to the burning of biomass, i.e., to a type of energy generation that is the subject of much environmental criticism.

The second-largest share, 3.9 percent, comes from hydroelectric plants – such as large dams – which are also highly controversial among environmentalists. In the REN21 report, solar and wind power, which are the focus of attention in Germany, together with geothermal energy, are estimated to account for only 2.8 percent of global energy production and are subcategorized under ‘other’.”

I wonder how much better off we would be if all this money had not been wasted on unreliable, uneconomic, and unnecessary renewable energy?

I hate to say it, but if it hadn’t been squandered on “ruinable” (ht – tom0mason) energy, the reprobates in charge would have squandered on some other scam.

Transition to green energies is a de-industrialization policy.

High priced and un-dependable power means you can no longer compete with international players supplying the same products. Therefore, emissions saved in the west are instead made in east Asia supplying things like steel, aluminum and polysilicon for solar cells. It’s like squeezing a balloon. Moreover, it may start with commodities and low margin manufacturing but watch how quickly those companies move up the value chain.

Hourly workers pay a severe price in lost jobs and wages. Globalist corporations cut their costs. Local bureaucrats get patted on the back by their eco supporters for the great job they’ve done with emissions reductions.

How in heavens name does this surprise anyone?

And, how in heavens name has this scam persisted for so long? The following, clearly revealing the folly of “renewables,” is from 9 years ago.

Since the illustration was taken down, that shows they know how bad it is, but just don’t want us to.

” global energy demand is rising faster than the expansion of renewable energies,”

Is this the year of “peak renewables”?

More will be built, to less effect. When they stop burning wood things will look worse.
    Anyway, the “climate” doesn’t care.

    1. Yonason

      Year of peak renewables?

You can see from this list of articles from PowerlineBlog that that question has been asked before, at least once in 2014.

As citizens become ever more aware of the fraud and begin refusing to take part in it, sterner measures will be called for.

A similar report last year, from 2009 to 2019,
claimed the increase was only +0.1%, far from 2%
The large difference suggests the estimates
are either very rough or biased.

Last May on 2 days Cali reached a milestone of 100% of its electric needs being met with renewable energy.

Fossil fuel energy costs (in case yku haven’t noticed) are skyrocketing. Renewable energy costs are always going down

    1. Richard Greene

That was for one hour on one day.

I don’t know why you are all so worried.
    Governments have heaps of money.
    Didn’t you know?

There will be no transition to “green energy” because “green energy” doesn’t work. It’s hugely expensive, inefficient and unreliable. People in power are trying to force it on the world population, but reality will prevent it. Unfortunately millions (billions?) of people across the globe will continue to suffer because of it.

“It is also sobering that the 12.6 percent share of eco-energy is largely attributable to the burning of biomass, i.e., to a type of energy generation that is the subject of much environmental criticism …”.

“Environmental criticism” indeed, that note in Welt is disingenuous as it obscures the fact that by far most of the biomass is so-called “traditional biomass” viz. wood dung etc. that is used to heat and cook in the Third World causing respiratory disease and death.

What is “green energy” ? I don’t know such kind of energy production.
As far as I know, there are 2 kinds of energy production :
    – one is efficient and reliable.
    – the other is the opposite.
