The Growing Unfaithful – US Skepticism At All-Time High!

GOOD NEWS!

The scam is falling apart, bit by bit like a cake out in the rain. Hat-tip: http://climatedepot.com/. No wonder some “climate science” characters are resorting to desperate acts. I wonder how the media feels about all this. They used to view themselves as so high and mighty, and now nobody is listening to them.

According to the UPI here, emphasis added:

Three-quarters of Americans say natural disasters are on the increase, but fewer than ever believe the climate is heating up, a new poll finds.

Only 44 percent say they ‘believe the theory‘ that carbon dioxide emissions are warming the Earth, down from 51 percent in 2009 and 71 percent in 2007, but most movement has been into the “not sure” column.”

That means the number of people who believe the theory has dropped a whopping 27% in just 4 years. After all that indoctrination and disinformation, this is their result. And to think that us skeptics are only getting warmed up!

The hoax is over folks. Stop acting like it aint.

Good news. People will remember the hoax next time the government scientists ramp up the propaganda for global taxes, and not have anything of it. The public learned something.

This is about more than “global warming” — it’s about an entire Leftist politically correct mode of thought of which AGW is a single piece, as Vaclav Klaus has repeatedly said.

Ergo, when AGW collapses, it sets Leftist influence back for many years, hence the shrill desperation to keep the scam going.

  3. Duncan

Public opinion is important for sure. But I’m more inclined to go with the scientist when making up my own mind. Which reputable scientific institutions have changed their minds on AGW?

    1. DirkH

Every Biologist these days inevitably throws in a money quote when he applies for a grant. They all know they can get funding by pretending to examine something in light of make-believe AGW; it suffices to say “climate change” and they’re not even lying as the climate changes naturally anyhow, so they examine how climate change affects raindeer populations when all they wanted was to examine raindeer populations… All being respectable scientist yet by bowing to the leaders of the AGW religion they give a little bit of respectability to AGW and in return they get their funding, and they all know the rules of the game. After all, the minister for Climate Cahnge wants some studies he can later quote, right? It’s a charade.

Exactly Dirk, this is precisely the way it works.

    44%?

Blimey, where did they take the poll?

    From NYT readers?

    I disagree.

This scare isn’t over by a long shot and it will take years to untangle all the climate related Government rules and regulations.

This scare is over when the EU stops cap & trade, mandetory use of bio fuels, the crazy rules for car emissions etc, etc.

To claim anything else is quite amazing and shows a lack of insight in the politics of AGW.

Sorry for the harsh words but you have to deal with it.

    1. DirkH

Ron, the EU will not untangle anything – i was talking about the public above, and when you look at the German news about climate change you will find damning comments under the articles so obviously there are many readers even in Germany who have woken up.

But the EU is just falling down the cliff, or rather, hanging on with their fingernails, and going down slowly with a screeching sound. Of course, because of the Euro crisis, caused by capital misallocation into renewables bubbles and an artificial energy scarcity (huge taxes on electricity and fuel; not all of them grounded in AGW); both of them destroying growth and jobs; sending them to places outside the EU.

As the EU will ratchet up the taxes in the countries that still have an economy to send the money to the fat bureaucracies in the failed states they will forever lose any credibility, be it on AGW, economics or anything else. Their days are numbered, it will be a long and painful process; but the eurocracy cannot be reformed; there are no processes for that, so the only alternative is death.

Remember that a few years ago they planned to turn the EU into “the most innovative economy” on Earth? They surely managed that for the field of accounting.

We will write “They believed in AGW” on the tombstone of the EU.

    DirkH,
I don’t think you entirely understand what’s going on right now.
The EU just spend 5.5 billion in new candidate members like Turkey, Iceland, Serbia, Croatia and Albania as if they learned absolutely nothing from the to fast expansion of the nineties.

They do this because joining the EU is nothing more but a coup.
People are stripped of their rights, politicians are bribed and countries lose their independence.

Today we were confronted with a flood of economic and financial news from the US, China and Europe, the financial markets were shaken up and the EU has planned for one emergency conference after another as the Euro went into free fall. In a single day Italy came under austerity ruling, Irish bonds were downgraded to junk status and the EU changed it’s policy on Greece which is now going to default. In short developments are speeding up at a rate that we need two days to read the news of a single hour let alone that our political elite are able to manage this all. Everything is pointing to a fast collapse.

The financial collapse of the European Monetary Union would place all the EU members under the rule of the IMF, read UN, read the new Global Empire.

The concept of a coup in progress becomes more evident if we look at what happens in the USA right now. The GOP minority Senate leader has offered Obama the “Power of the Purse”. This responsibility is according to the US Constitution a power of Congress. Handing over absolute financial power to Obama is absurd and dangerous. At the same time Al Gore has started a new Global initiative.

I have taken the liberty to write about this at Seablogger and I must admit that I still can’t believe that I trusted myself to write down what I wrote but I think you should read it.

“as if they learned absolutely nothing from the to fast expansion of the nineties”.

Yes, they learned nothing; they are a one trick pony suffering from a collective Dunning-Kruger effect. You think they have a masterplan and use this crisis for their goals? No, they’re not in control of anything and operate from second to second. That’s what i mean with “long and painful”, it will be painful to watch them going down the tubes. And those dolts giving a price to Putin? Well they don’t look exactly like the Club Of Rome; some wannabes from Berlin.

Cheering for the ignorance of Americans is distasteful.

It’s the equivalent of lying to Americans telling them the Earth is only 6000 years old and then crowing when a poll reveals a large number of Americans don’t accept evolution.

If you were honest you would try to educate Americans that rising CO2 does cause warming, not cheer their ignorance.

    1. DirkH

      I have one question, Cthulu.
“The 350 target is based not on climate modeling, but on past climate change (“paleoclimate”). Hansen looked at the highly accurate ice core record of the last few hundred thousand years, sediment core data going back 65 million years, and the changes currently unfolding. He discovered that, in the long term, climate is twice as sensitive in the real world as it is in the models used by the IPCC.”
from Cartoonist John Cook’s scientific website
      http://www.skepticalscience.com/Climate-emergency-time-to-slam-on-the-brakes.html

Why didn’t Hansen fix his models and tune up the sensitivity? Was his sidekick Gavin incapable of finding the right fudge factor?
