With all due respect to Shaviv, one could say the same things about pretty much any branch of science. Challenge the “dogma” of natural selection and you’re going to have trouble with your career. It doesn’t mean that researcher would be wrong, it just means they have a much larger job to turn over the larger body of science.

I can’t imagine Nir Shaviv making this kind of claims without merit.
We not only have to deal with the hoax of the scientific consensus but also with the green mafia and looney politicians.
Nir Shaviv is a vocal critique of the IPCC climate science and the “consensus” from the first hour and one of the most productive scientists in terms of research and peer reviewed reports.
If this guy is warning his students you can bet something is seriously crooked.

Rob makes it sound like Einstein caused no controversy.
I start to doubt that he’s real.
hehe… I can’t imagine saying something of the sort to students (well, at least with the implied connotation here). Perhaps it’s a quotation which was taken out of context. My point is that because climate science is so dogmatic students do risk burning themselves because of the politics, if they don’t follow the party line. Since doing bad (“alarmist”) climate science is not an option either, I advise them to do things which are not directly related to global warming. (In fact, all but one of the graduate students I had, work or worked on pure astrophysical projects). I, on the other hand, have the luxury of tenure, so I can shout the truth as loud as I want without really being hurt.

Listening to Deutschlandfunk, and Rundfunk Berlin Brandenburg (R.B.B), I was pleasently surprised to find that they ALWAYS point out that “The science is not settled” and that “XYZ” sais something else, when reporting “climate change caused by CO2” interviews, or whatever.
Quite refreshing, when a touch half hearted. At least they DO acknowledge a different view.
