Master Planner Schellnhuber: “More and More Voices Are Predicting Death Of The Earth – Soon”

Hans Schellnhuber is back in the news blowing science hot air once again, and spreading his usual doom and gloom. Unless people accept his master-plan for the Great Transformation of our sinful society, the planet will die – and soon, he believes.

This is what he has just told Chancellor Angela Merkel and her equally gullible Environment Minister Norbert Röttgen. Hat tip: DirkH.

Read here (in German): Climate Scientist Believes 6°C Of Warming Possible

Schellnhuber on the future of warming:

Temperatures will rise 3 to 4°C by 2100. But after that it will not stop rising. According to our scenarios we are on course for 6°C warming or more by 2300. That would mean a totally different planet – for example the sea level would rise many meters.”

Schellnhuber on Kyoto II:

Kyoto appears dead. Perhaps it has indeed led us into a dead-end.”

Schellnhuber on the who are the “climate sinners”:

The USA has completely abandoned a powerful climate policy. Indeed also Canada and Australia, whose industries have grown because of fossil energies, belong in court in the dock. All developed countries are are slowing the process down , and are simply shifting greenhouse gas intensive industries, i.e. dirty industries, to China and India.

Schellnhuber on “patient earth” – is it dead?

No. The patient is still alive. But more and more voices are predicting death soon.”

Schellnhuber talks about sea level rise. There is evidence that the climatologists HAVE NOT HEARD OF THE PRINCIPLE OF ARCHIMEDES.

THEY ARE REALLY THIS DUMB. The model programmers, the researchers, the peers, the enviro journos. ALL OF THEM.

      1. DirkH

Oh sorry, they seem to know the principle of Archimedes but allege that a change in density leads to a non-zero effect.

    Wow!

I did not realize that 100-300 years into the future PROJECTIONS is part of valid science research.

Gosh no wonder modeling scenarios is riding a hot trend in guessing science research these days.

    According our scenarios he says.

Does he have a Chrystal ball?

    This one perhaps?

These people have invested heavy in this false alarm. Even if the world plunged into a Little Ice Age it won’t stop them. People however will move on and ignore their rants. This process has already started.

    LoL, I didin’t know that:
    http://www.welt.de/wissenschaft/article13457673/Offshore-Windparks-werden-Atmosphaere-abkuehlen.html

They found that off-shore windmills could lead to drop air temperatures resulted by enforced water evaporation.
Now, I understood their strategy: The sun’s activity remains low, so the earth is cooling now. To defend the AGW theory and for protection of windmill business, they are trying now to sell the story about the global cooling caused by windmills.
Money for nothing and chicks for free 😉

    1. DirkH

The increased evaporation is a consequence of increased turbulence over the ground in the wake of wind turbine. Now, a wind turbine is the most efficient wind brake we can design, as we want to maximize the extraction of energy from the air movement. Extracting energy all the time means it’s no more there. They admit they didn’t factor that in – they say their model can’t predict the climatic consequences on nearby shores.

It’s all about playing around with computers, get journalists publish anything you find, and messing around with the environment. Any unintended consequence will be blamed on rising CO2 again to justify increased messing around.

A fine money mill these researchers have going there.

a study by Robert Kaufmann, of Boston University, and his colleagues has discovered that the levelling off of surface temperatures during this period can be explained by the sulphate particles released into the atmosphere from coal-burning power stations. This has the effect of reflecting sunlight and heat away from Earth.

Schellnhuber appears to be a director of a company selling “household durables” Quite puzzling, even incongruous, anybody throw any light on it? http://investing.businessweek.com/research/stocks/private/people.asp?privcapId=36693150

    Company Overview
Hans-Joachim Drescher e.K offers home décor accessories, glassware, Christmas tree decorations, and Christmas accessories and decorations. Heidenfelder Strasse 1, Schwebheim, 97525, Germany, Founded in 2002

Key Executives Prof. Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, Founder and Managing Director

    http://investing.businessweek.com/research/stocks/private/person.asp?personId=36731268

“Prof. Hans Joachim founded Drescher e.K and serves as its Managing Director. Prof. Joachim serves as an Executive Officer of Hans-Joachim Drescher e.K. Prof. Joachim serves as a Member of Climate Change Advisory Board of Deutsche Bank AG.” Which of course is true, along with Pachauri, Lord Oxburgh, John Browne, ex BP, and other warmers.

Maybe Drescher e.K is where he sells the Crystal Balls…..

“Effects on the global temperature of large increases in carbon dioxide and aerosol densities in the atmosphere of Earth have been computed. It is found that, although the addition of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere does increase the surface temperature, the rate of temperature increase diminishes with increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. For aerosols, however, the net effect of increase in density is to reduce the surface temperature of Earth. Because of the exponential dependence of the backscattering, the rate of temperature decrease is augmented with increasing aerosol content. An increase by only a factor of 4 in global aerosol background concentration may be sufficient to reduce the surface temperature by as much as 3.5 deg.K. If sustained over a period of several years, such a temperature decrease over the whole globe is believed to be sufficient to trigger an ice age.

The rate at which human activities may be inadvertently modifying the climate of Earth has become a problem of serious concern

1 . In the last few decades the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere appears to have increased by 7 percent

2 . During the same period, the aerosol content of the lower atmosphere may have been augmented by as much as 100 percent

3 . How have these changes in the composition of the atmosphere affected the climate of the globe? More importantly, is it possible that a continued increase in the CO2 and dust content of the atmosphere at the present rate will produce such large-scale effects on the global temperature that the process may run away, with the planet Earth eventually becoming as hot as Venus (700 deg. K.) or as cold as Mars (230 deg. K.)?

We report here on the first results of a calculation in which separate estimates were made of the effects on global temperature of large increases in the amount of CO2 and dust in the atmosphere. It is found that even an increase by a factor of 8 in the amount of CO2, which is highly unlikely in the next several thousand years, will produce an increase in the surface temperature of less than 2 deg. K.

However, the effect on surface temperature of an increase in the aerosol content of the atmosphere is found to be quite significant. An increase by a factor of 4 in the equilibrium dust concentration in the global atmosphere, which cannot be ruled out as a possibility within the next century, could decrease the mean surface temperature by as much as 3.5 deg. K. If sustained over a period of several years, such a temperature decrease could be sufficient to trigger an ice age!”

Oh dear what an inconvenient truth that paper is to Mr Stephen Schneider, peer reviewed by James Hansen of NASA no less ;-).

What is it about people trying to make a cult by putting the fear of an apocalypse into those who are easily manipulated? The difference between the greenies and faith, is that a sinner can be forgiven and redeemed.

A simple user of resources (which they pay for), no matter how he uses them “can always do better”, and remains iredeemably wrong forever.

Guilt has always been a powerful tool to control people. Don’t let them turn your kids into unthinking puppets for their ideology. Think about it: they use schoolkids to prop up their world view because they don’t want to go through the effort of trying to convince a thinking adult of their world view – for fear that they might not be “followed” absolutely or face reasonable logical investigation and the scepticism that has been the foundation of all successful science.
