“ECOtality North America (formerly eTec), a wholly owned subsidiary of ECOtality, was awarded $99.9M from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 by the United States Department of Energy for The EV Project.[2]
Officially launched in October 2009, The EV Project is an infrastructure study, the focus of which is to examine various situations involving EV drivers and charging infrastructure. The EV Project is the largest deployment of electric vehicles and charge infrastructure in history.[3]
ECOtality is deploying approximately 14,000 Blink electric vehicle chargers in 18 major cities and metropolitan areas located in California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Texas, Tennessee, and Washington, DC. Chevrolet and Nissan North America are partners in The EV Project, and 8,300 Volt and LEAF drivers may qualify for participation.[4]“
