This past weekend in Munich, the European Institute for Climate and Energy (EIKE) held its 13th annual climate and energy conference. According to EIKE, over 200 attended, making it the most successful so far.

But as reported earlier, the EIKE conference organizers were forced to scramble at the last minute to find another location to hold the event after leftist green extremists had bullied the NH Munich Conference Center into cancelling the booking, before booting EIKE and attending scientists out onto the street.

Worse, the German civil apparatus did nothing to protect EIKE’s rights, turning a blind eye to the highly dubious breach of contract and intimidation of free speech.

In the end, EIKE managed to move the conference to a new location, which they chose to keep secret in order to hinder further attempts by the leftwing activists to disrupt and stifle free speech.

Die 13. Internationale Klima- und Energiekonferenz wurde erfolgreich beendet! Antifa und Klimakrakeeler produzierten sich als Volltrottel!

“Living in a very tragic time”

At conference a number of speakers commented on the unusual events.

For example, Dr. Benny Peiser commented (30:35): “The conference naturally will go down in history as being the first science congress since Nazi times that was attempted to be obstructed. And the problem of course is, as is the case in all authoritarian history, how a small minority begins and eventuially spreads like a fire to others. […] We are living in a very tragic time.”

Having moved from Germany to Great Britain 30 years ago, Dr. Peiser told how today he “can hardly recognize Germany any more.”

“Thirty years ago, freedom was a great word. Today it’s a curse word. Like George Orwell once said, ‘Freedom is the right to say what others don’t want to hear,”‘ Peiser reminded.

German law fears the leftists

Lord Christopher Monckton, Viscount of Brenchly also spoke (4:27:55) on the attempted shut down of the EIKE climate conference “by fascists calling themselves anti-fascists” and how the NH Munich Conference Center abruptly canceled – at the last minute – the contract to accommodate the EIKE conference. Monckton called the judge who refused to enforce the contract law “a coward”.

“He allowed the fascist bullies to frighten him into cancelling that venue,” Monckton said. “These are the people from whom the judge was frightened,” said Monckton, showing a slide of the leftist bullies.

How did the German media respond to the EIKE climate conference? As expected, the mainstream media pretty much ignored it totally.

SZ: “deniers”…”non-transparent ultra-libertarians” …”almost only men”

But the center-left Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ) published a commentary by Philipp Bovermann. And, as expected, it was hardly flattering – consisting of the same worn out, low-intellect, name-calling polemic that sadly has been earning German ‘journalists’ awards lately.

The SZ’s Bovermann even referred to Israeli astrophysicist Nir Shaviv as “a climate change denier”. And as is usual for the vast majority of today’s German mainstream journalists, Bovermann totally ignored the science. He wasn’t there for real science journalism, after all. His SZ screed obviously makes that clear. Rather he was there to produce recycled-plastic-grade political propaganda. No wonder we live in “very tragic times” in Germany.

The mob is the Antifa, which call themselves Antideutschen. They showed their true colors at Dresden calling for “Bomber Harris do it again” – waving Union Jacks.
Things have indeed changed since re-unification, this group sprouted from roots going back to the Baader-Meinhof gang. Well known by the BfV, Constitutional Protection Agency, as tending to terrorism. Primary objective is to libel any trace of German sovereignty.

So a terrorist event was avoided – look what happened in Hong Kong there the original complaint was forgotten and the entire city was trashed. I certainly would not like to see Munich trashed, nor a violent police confrontation, perfect fodder for CNN – has anyone checked if press-crew cameras were locked and loaded? How they must feel cheated of juicy footage!

So climate warriors, remember some else has chosen the field of battle. This is not about CO2.

Now I wonder was an acquaintance of Victoria Nuland with cookies at hand lurking in the whereabouts? Was or is a CO2 Maidan in the making?

    1. Carbonicus

It was never about CO2. Extinction Rebellion and ActualFa and their ilk have finally removed all appearances that it was ever about CO2.

Actually, it was once about CO2. If you go back 30-40 years and look at the reports and conference proceedings, there’s no question about this. Or were people like Revelle and Smagorinsky – and Nirenberg – all acting in bad faith?

But once something like this gets started all sorts of other people come on board bringing their own agendas. Plus, there always was an environmentalist backdrop. But the cause-and-effect is much more complicated than the simple narratives that skeptics (like warmists) seem to thrive on.

Yes, we seem to be sliding almost aimlessly into a very tragic time. Almost a century ago, Justice Louis Brandeis, dissenting to the exception to unchallenged speech as shouting “Fire!” in a crowded theater, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis placed a firm restriction on it. “Only an emergency,” he said, “can justify repression.” Where there is time the answer, he argued, is always more speech, not less.
The ultimate limitation on speech (there is one) may have best been stated as Karl Popper’s “paradox of tolerance:” In the very dispassionate introduction to his “Open society and its enemies” Popper wrote:
“Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant and [we] are not prepared to defend … against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them. … As long as we can counter them by rational argument and keep them in check by public opinion, suppression would certainly be unwise.”
“But we should claim the right to suppress them if necessary even by force; for it may easily turn out that they are not prepared to meet us on the level of rational argument, but begin by denouncing all argument; they may forbid their followers to listen to rational argument because it is deceptive, and teach them to answer arguments by the use of their fists or pistols.”
That may be a little too passionless. It bears reading more than once at one sitting.

“They …[called]…for “Bomber Harris do it again” – waving Union Jacks.” – bonbon

Sounds like they are using reverse psychology, trying to trigger Germans into hating a recent enemy. After arousing strong negative irrational emotions, they can then go on to stoke them and whip the crowd into a frenzy.

At least that seems like what they are trying to do. I hope they didn’t/don’t succeed.

Anarchists are scum of the earth.

    A Very Tragic Time, Indeed!

The way these French mathematicians describe the climate change scam, they make it appear like a cancer, invading every facet of scientific endeavor, sucking up precious resources, diverting it to proliferation of useless and destructive activities while killing off the good, as all cancers do.

They kept saying to me, “Cheer up, things could be worse.”

So I cheered up and sure enough, things got worse.

An experiment is easy to conduct. Reduce the power generation sources to wind turbines only, disconnect all other sources of power generation, coal, hydro, nuclear, natural gas, and see what happens to the grid.

You’ll have results to gather data, instantly, you’ll know right away what happens, however, record what happens anyway and the circumstances involved.

It is an unknown at the moment, but with one simple task, disconnect all power generation sources except for wind turbines and you will see what can happen.

Don’t have to do the experiment, you can guess what will happen without coal, nuclear and hydro in the energy mix.

Those idiots in the photo would club Josef Priestly after chopping off Lavoisier’s head, that’s how ignorant they really are. You are not going to fix stupid there. That’s how things get worse, so cheer up.

There is an excuse for ignorance, but not for stupidity.

“You can guess what will happen without coal, nuclear and hydro in the energy mix”

In the UK we will only need to remove the remaining coal fired stations to see what happens…

The crowd that trashed Hong Kong call themselves antifa too, actually anti-beijing. 2 US senators donned antifa-black turned up there, with ex-governor Patten in tow to goad them on. They are still likely to trash HK.

The antideutschen are known as a terrorist grouping. It was a perfect opportunity for MSM to have a field day.

This crowd was goaded by US authors after re-unification to libel anyone objecting to the looting by hedge funds that went on especially in the old GDR. Even Ridley, of Thatcher’s circle, insulted Kohl, joined by Connor Cruise O’Brien of Dublin. Mitterand put the price of re-unification on Kohl’s table – give up the Deutschmanrk, or Berlin stays occupied.

In other words it was antideutscher that gave us all the Euro.

  7. Petit_Barde

The bunch of fascists in the picture illustrates the Orwellian speaking :

    “Ignorance is strength.”

What is taking place in Germany is the imposition of the Morganthau Plan, not US policy after WWII, rather British policy, to turn a former industrial state into an agrarian backwater, with very few farmers either, and little food, as is now being felt at the tractor demo in Berlin. Even the Marshall Fund has become green.

EIKE walked right into this. That Plan wend full steam ahead even after Climategate. After re-unification, first the Deutschmark, then nuclear power, and now even farming, as well as autos had to go.
Of course defense will be boosted to cover Nato and the EU Defense Union.

See the black clad antideutscher as enforcers of this. Immense pressure is being applied.

What needs to be faced is physical economics, where growth comes from, and what greening will achieve and why – massive depopulation.
One immediately finds exactly the same policy hitting the USA, to Trump’s dismay, and thus the onslaught on China, including Hong Kong.

EIKE must link their climate science to physical economics – our very lives depend on it, or risk appearing literally up in the clouds.

  9. Mervyn

I never realised ‘Hitler’s brown coats’ were still in existence when it comes to the field of ‘climate change’ and trying to intimidate EIKE.

    1. bonbon

They are black-clad like their supporter Senator Ted Cruz who turned up in Hong Kong.
Imagine that, Antifa in the US Senate!

Remember FDR’s warning to his son Elliot, who was sent to Africa, not to believe it could never happen here.

President Trump said on Nov 25 “I am fighting for future Presidents and the Office of the President. ”

Shifty Schiff, while not black-clad, is out to destroy that office.

      1. Yonason

“They are black-clad like their supporter Senator Ted Cruz…” – bonbon

Ted Cruz an Antifa supporter???? Where did you get that nonsense? Your losing me here, pardner.
